The Race against Time

Asslamu Alaikum,

As MIST approaches nearer and nearer, we need to start implementing this year's theme into our competitions. On closer inspection, I saw that this theme was much deeper then we were thinking it to be.

The race against time is a lifetime challenge that we will always be trying to fight. It comes with us from the beginning -- when we came into this world-- and stays with us until the end of time -- when we leave this world. This race isnt just about avoiding bad and doing good before time runs out. In fact, that is considered a tad bit selfish.

As muslims, we have much greater responsibility then to merely collect good deeds and not bad ones. We need to help others do the same. We have been given the gift of becoming a Muslim, so we need to help spread the message of Islam. In this society, where so much misunderstanding about Islam is prevalent thoughout the world, our repsonsbility has become heavier and greater.

In addition to that, Muslims around the world are suffering greatly. In almost every country on Earth, there are a population of Muslims who are suffering from either disease, war, persecution and more.

As young muslims living in America, we are probably the only ones gifted with the resources to spread Dawah and help out the poor. But we also have the disadvantage of societal influence, which may hinder us from our real goal. And this is what makes the race agaisnt time the biggest challenge for young American Muslims.

We have to use our time and resources to try and make the world a better place to live in.

Woah, that sounds like a lot of responsibility for one person!

It is. But that is why we have a community, a Ummah. The problem is, we are not united. And that is the first thing we need to fix. Thus adding to the list of things we need to complete before we pass away from this world.

Even though everything sounds challenging and complicated, and even though we still feel like we are too young to deal with this, we would be suprised what youth can do. We need to be united and strong and ready to face this challenge and pass it successfully.

See you soon
